This is worse than deer in the headlights. We’re the deer looking into the headlights. They don’t even know there’s a car. They don’t even know they’re a deer.

As the sign suggests, the protest comes as international outrage builds over the starvation Gazans are now facing. Per a statement the World Food Programme released earlier this week - nearly 2 years into Israel's seige on Gaza - some 1 in 3 people there are now going "days" without food.

Now: for the 2nd time this week, a Palestine solidarity protest is underway in downtown Chicago. This one is a noise protest outside the city's Israeli Consulate. Protestors bang on pots and pans behind a CPD bike barricade; a sign reading "Israel is starving Gaza" greets oncoming rush hour traffic.

If someone wanted to filibuster weapons shipments to Israel, they could just read the names of the children killed in Gaza and break Booker’s record by many, many hours.

During his appearance with Netanyahu, Trump said it would be a good thing to have, “a peace force like the United States” in Gaza.

Well, this “peace force” has partnered with the “most moral military in the world” to commit one of the worst genocides in modern times.

Words mean nothing.

Chris Hedges is super cheery today! /s He quotes a Jewish writer about the Nazis:

The rate of ocean warming has more than quadrupled over the past four decades, a new study has shown. Ocean temperatures were rising at about 0.06 degrees Celsius per decade in the late 1980s, but are...

🌊🌡📈 Acceleration of warming!

We can keep hoping the data is wrong, but hope is not a strategy!

Many thought and think that James Hansen overestimates, or even exaggerates the risks of climate change.

The data ('even' IPCC consensus) shows that he likely underestimated things.

Our current estimates might still be underestimates.

We ignore the warning signs at our own peril.
Back in 1990, Hansen & Lacis described an "extreme" scenario of half the GHG forcing being compensated by a negative aerosol forcing.

Looking at the same agents, IPCC AR6 WG1 showed it as 66% for the 1850-1989 period.

It was likely even more!

Joe Biden leaves several legacies, good and bad. But the most tangible and lasting is this.
It's the result of his disgraceful, enduring support for #genocide: the literal wiping of a people and their built environment off the map.
Whatever else he did, this will forever be attached to his name.

Last chance for a partially habitable planet — 2010s
