I have watched as so-called "compromise" positions on transgender people's rights have failed over and over--in statehouses, the Biden White House, and in liberal rhetoric. There is no middle ground acceptable to the politicians, activists, and billionaires obsessed with trans people and our lives.

The media’s contempt for saying “pregnant people” just reminds me of how they felt similar about gay families a few decades ago. Such families were accused of “denying biological reality” when a birth certificate used the term “parent” instead of “mother” or “father.” Bigotry is boringly unoriginal.

1/n On the subject of the recent judgement: triumphalists here need to bear in mind what the SC judgement did NOT say. The claimants tried to get it to say that the Gender Recognition Act 2004 is a dead letter. It refused, by the way referring to trans people by their correct pronouns throughout.

Listening to the Home Secretary and Welby this morning I am convinced the the requirement for mandatory reporting needs to be strengthened. Theology is irrelevant. Any religious who hears of evidence of abuse in any circumstance needs to be criminalised if they don’t report it. 1/2

gonna be real here but I think easily more than half of straights still find gays icky and would happily say so if they thought they are in the majority
It frightens me thinking about how quickly the tide could turn

This is a point that should be more widely understood. It is allied to the feeling once widely held by straights about gays, the same gender attraction is somehow yucky. Well, bear in mind that the yuckyness of trans people ins entirely in your imaginations. They’re people like anyone else.
I'm kind of convinced that there's a sort of hygiene politics in the UK that finds trans people dirty and therefore anti trans people are clean.
This same politics finds overt Nazism and Trumpist rhetoric dirty too. The reason there's some line drawing to distinguish is because of that.
