I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

We used to have our book club at a pub that closed a few months ago. And the bartender is now the manager of his own pub but he very apologetically told us there's no space for us (the old pub had a big back room we used but the new one doesn't). So now we meet at another pub down the street

I don't want to start a thing so I'll just say that there will never be a good argument for privatizing USPS. That would be like privatizing libraries. The aim of services isn't to be run for profit, they are for serving the greater good, which USPS has been extremely successful at.

For some reason the two-tone Trader Joe’s tote (the canvas one that looks like an LL Bean bag) seems to be THE accessory of the summer in London 😂 Seeing it everywhere all weekend and I don’t think it’s just been Americans carrying it!

Started the day running around the office after a starling that had accidentally flown in the window so that was a bit of excitement for a Monday morning (we eventually turned off all the lights and it chilled out so I could catch it and let it back outside)
