I like cooking, movies, books, Go/baduk, old-school shaving, Esperanto. I follow a whole-food non-animal diet (because health) with occasional exceptions. I make tempeh (black lentil & purple barley shown) & wrote a book on making it at home. (It's easy.)

The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

There is no measured way to say what I am about to say.

If the Supreme Court agrees with the Trump administration to end birthright citizenship, we must end this current Supreme Court.

I do not say this lightly.

@realjakebroe.bsky.social I thought this documentary on how the B-25 strafer-bomber totally changed the war doctrine in the Pacific theater in WWII has a lot of overlap with how Ukrainian innovations in drones have changed war doctrine today. Worth watching. youtu.be/2vd_H_Yn_Dc

Given Trump's actions against the District of Columbia, perhaps it's time for DC statehood. DC has a population greater than that of Vermont and Wyoming, but lacks the apparatus of statehood, leaving it vulnerable to the whims of Congress and now Trump. Statehood for DC!

Odd conflict between two common judgments from Trump supporters: "I like him because he says what he means," and then, when some particularly odious statement he made is presented, "He doesn't mean that."

If Texas insists on a religious display in public schools, I hope they adopt the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). That seems much better in terms of actual daily guidance for young minds than the Ten Commandments, plus it's specifically Christian (from the New Testament), the religion Texas likes.

A Village in The Third Reich is an essential and terrifying read. It was a really a new perspective on the horror of the Nazis for me because it tells individual stories and shows how fascism seeped into all facets of life.
Hopes that, once in power, the Nazis' more extreme behaviour would settle down were soon to fade.
