The top 1% capture more wealth than 99% of the world. A wealth tax on the richest 0.5% of Canadians would allow $30 billion in gains/yr, while supporting tax cuts to middle- and low-income workers and raising money for public goods. #NoMoreBillionaires #TaxTheRich act.gp/4qNIIXs

If you are outraged by the #Montreal bus and metro #strike of Nov. 1-28, go to the #STM site, look for the customer service complaints page, and FLOOD them with letters of protest outlining how it affects you.
Sick and tired of the chaos in this city.

Melançon: STM unions are holding Montreal commuters hostage
Imagine if ERs or police operated only a few hours a day to “maintain essential services.” The same logic should apply to public transit.

You’d have a whole lot of Canadians helping to fund PBS!

Also, while we’re translating nostalgia into funding, have a good ol’ fashioned telethon with special merch just for callers…
I’m not trying to give @pbs.org ideas for raising money—but I am. I would buy women’s fit T-shirts of all my favorite childhood shows. Reading rainbow, 321 contact, square one, zoobiliee zoo. I feel like two generations will run to donate even more money for shirts with Levar Burton on them…

During a "sex talk”, my mum warned my teenage sister and I that men don’t like it being used as a mic, then ✨mimed singing "Feelings" into a melting microphone✨
Reasoning that simply good sex wasn’t memorable, she developed a signature move: pressing her lover’s cock against the side of her face and talking into it like a phone

Here’s a sad insight gleamed from my recent injury: when you’re not a priority for anyone, your friends & family may care about your well-being overall, but once the shock of you being hurt wears off, they lose interest in the actual healing progress.

If anything, people decide in advance that you’ll be a nuisance. They frequently use tactics to “manage” you/interactions with you.

Ex: announcing that they don’t have time to talk despite no indication that you intended to speak to them.
32. Generally, people give you less grace when they find out you're ND, not more.

If you’ve not made a respectful and firm call or email to your local MP about a sitting MP placing a citizen in danger, you should. This can’t be allowed from any MP. We’re not the USA.
This must be addressed. Stat.
Democracy takes work between elections too.

Have you ever noticed that "debate" isn't how knowledge actually disseminates through academics and other communities who care about evidence and methodical ways of making meaning?

That tells us something useful the value of debate for knowledge & policy, compared to mere performance or propaganda.

THAT ... that's what I've been trying to put into words.

Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

Though not gleeful at the death of that man, I dearly hope he lived long enough and was conscious long enough to grasp that he was reaping what he sowed.

For violence to never be the answer, violence can never be the prompt.

A good reminder to Canadians not to let shitty premiers ruin our healthcare.
Every once in a while I tell people from other countries about how the health insurance system works in the US and they are aghast. Yesterday a guy straight up didn’t believe me when I said people can die because of not being able to afford medicine. He was sure I meant in the distant past.
