Apparently em dashes are seen as evidence of AI writing. Well, based on examples I've seen, they're random, stupidly used em dashes, because AI is ignorant and artless, but more pertinent to this post, you'll have to pry my "em dashes in place of parentheses" preference from my dead hands.

My best friend lives 530 miles from me. I go to see them at least 2x a year. Finished reading Rest Stop by @natcassidy.bsky.social. So the question is how do I make that trip without stopping for gas, snacks, or a bathroom break? Cause that just ain't happening now.

I finished the audiobook of At Dark I Become Loathsome by @ericlarocca.bsky.social, and yes, it's intense & gory & horrific & all the things. But it is also one the most emotionally difficult books I have read in a while. It hurt to read (listen to?). And worth every moment of agony. Beautiful.
