When I was in HS (90s) taking a US Civics class was (and still is) a graduation requirement in New York State.

Too many people in this country lack functional knowledge of how Federal, State, and Local government works.

If you know #UScivics resources, please share.

This is good, and should actually make us feel better.

Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson temporarily blocked a ruling that required Trump to fully fund SNAP because she’s playing chess, not checkers. She sent it back to the lower courts for a reason. 👀

The Laken Riley Act

They're finding ICE's mass detention agenda is SO broad it could actually "nullify" the controversial law.

So we’re clear, Black elders predicted all of this.

They taught us to never trust banks, to keep emergency cash;

Our Elders taught us to turn inward, to nurture our internal Black consciousness and community—

ALL in unspoken preparation for an eventual White Nationalist takeover.

Maine will vote in under two weeks on a measure that would make voting a lot harder for a lot of people, including disabled folks, older folks, and anyone who struggles to meet strict ID requirements.

If passed, this would really reshape voting in 2026.

I usually peek at my Aunt's NY absentee ballot before she uses it, so there won't be any surprises before I go vote.

Flipped the ballot and saw the "Let up destroy preserved land to build a ski resort, and pinky swear we'll swap it out for some other land" proposal.

Nope. Leave that land alone.
There is a ballot question on the New York State elections ballot this year. The proposal would take 2,500 of preserved state land and turn it into a ski resort. This land is literally 8 minutes from Lake Placid...

Go there instead.

Go VOTE New York, and vote NO on Proposal One.

“Most were stupid joke comments”.

What am I supposed to be laughing at when a scumbag former Blackwater contractor says rape survivors need to “take some responsibility for themselves & not get so fucked up they wind up having sex with someone they don’t mean to”?

Graham Platner asked why Black people 'don't tip' and referenced rape in old Reddit posts
Platner's past comments came to light the same week that Gov. Janet Mills joined the Democratic primary for the right to face Republican Sen. Susan Collins.

If the Pennsylvania GOP manages to oust Democratic justices this year, they wouldn’t just take over the seats. But it’d give them a new, clear path to flipping the court in 2027, ahead of the next presidential race.
Inside the Clunky Elections to Control Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court
The GOP is making an expensive push to end Democrats’ majority on a court at the center of election lawsuits, sparking a fledging campaign season with little precedent or template.

Everyone is talking about the upcoming midterm elections, but some important State and County elections are happening this November.
There are three legislative chambers where the majority is on the line in November: Virginia’s House and New Jersey’s Assembly, where every seat is on the ballot, but also the Minnesota Senate, which is hosting a pair of special elections.
