8th gen North Carolinian, leftist, if you say Appalachia wrong I'll throw an apple atcha. Married, mom, have dog. Librarian.
The Ghibli sleep stuff I listened to skewed my music age and I am 22. Fugazi probably helped.

Monster is good but I realized this Ed Gein sounds a bit like Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys and it's hard to not hear it now

Found this...bittersweet. I LOVE that Kent says something's "for him" rather than just dismissing it as bad. My Dad was on his way to being this curious before maga. Ian took him for Indian and he "loved that red chicken." Dad loves pho. I miss who my parents were.

I 200% do not believe border patrol/ ICE is leaving NC. Proceed as if they are here for awhile.

I've experienced too much weird stuff to say no outright but I'm also not gonna be on Ghost Adventures. Bro.
do you believe in ghosts or are you like me, a person who finds themself saying all the time “I absolutely don’t believe in ghosts, but this place has ghosts.”

This still makes me sad.
Two years and two days ago, a woman delivered some chili to her new neighbors. Everyone was very happy and normal and there were no lasting effects.

After work I drove slowly through the parking lot at Lowes near home, checked on favorite taco/ pupusa truck. You know, normal stuff in a normal country. They're closed. Suspect most are. This hurts my heart and not just for the sake of tacos. I feel pretty helpless. Trying to help when I can.

Ian and kiddo are still going through X Files. I had forgotten how delightful the XMas Eve ghost episode is.

The mental gymnastics of the media. My child could be described as a "young adult" but she is a MINOR. She can swear (a lot) and can drive but at 16 she is still a minor. Jesus.

My theory that the editors at the New York Times are some of the biggest threats to the country continues to bat 1.000
every few years it's revealed that the NYT was sitting on information about some horrific thing that public knowledge of would have changed the country's course and for some reason a ton of people still give them money. you can play those games on other sites

I was poking though old photos and found this goth DJ and hot wife

I love it when people say "But those aren't as tall as the mountains in..." These are some of the oldest mountains in the world. The New River predates some fossils. Hush.

Friends, leaves, no worries, App State, 90s. I'd love to be in this mood ever again.

I'm just in various states of happy and verklempt this open house weekend.

Fred Bear was in the old App library in my undergrad days, glad to see him in the fancy new building. He met his demise in the 1920s.

NYC, I love you so much, well done. I want to visit again asap.

Iris drove herself to and from a sleepover across the county last night and now we have college visit this weekend. I'm a lil weepy but proud, and glad to see mountains next weekend.

When you see Mamdani looking all normal doing normal person things—petting bodega cats, riding public transport—you realize just how bizarre and estranged our average candidate for public office is. Rich martians in flesh suits

Iris drove herself to her friend's house across the county for the first time and they went to Bojangles on their first outing. I am so proud. Good kid.

I think Halloween in NYC is a bucket list thing for me. I can't explain why the city has such a hold on me since my most recent visit. Or maybe I can...not driving? Thriving public spaces? Maybe midlife crisis. I dunno. I just love the place.

One of kiddo's friends was dressed up as Jackie from That 70s Show and was so happy that I knew who that was.
