My husband’s visa expired somewhere between applying for a green card, having the interview, and waiting for it to arrive in the mail. This is EXTREMELY common since the green card process takes so long and short term visas are for 1 year max. I can’t imagine living this scenario. Pure cruelty.
Gut wrenching: “I had to take our baby from my crying wife’s arms,” Mr. Paul, 33, said, recalling the moment that agents said they were arresting his wife, Katie.

Ms. Paul was sent to an immigration detention center with hundreds of other people swept up in the Trump administration’s crackdown.”

You can tell they didn’t consult leadership at BOP, who has been supportive of efforts to build ties between those incarcerated in fed prisons & their families. These ties lead to reduced recidivism and better reintegration upon release. Everyone knows this. The policy change is deliberately cruel
It literally took decades of advocacy to pass these reforms, which would have prevented prison phone and teleconferencing companies from ripping off inmates and their families to the tune of hundreds of millions annually

Let’s be clear about what’s happening. Violent crime in DC is at a 30-year low. There is no emergency. This is a test run. If the courts, Congress, and the rest of us let him get away with this, he’ll do it in every city that doesn’t capitulate to him.

Currently in Monroe, Louisiana for Chris Duncan's bail hearing. After 27 years on death row, he's asking a judge to let him out. 16 years ago I reported on a video showing forensic charlatan Michael West using a mold of Duncan's teeth to create bite marks on the corpse of a young girl.
Forensics Fraud?
Experts say this video shows a doctor manufacturing evidence. So why is a man still on death row?

Police who keep their identities secret are, quite literally, secret police. I don’t know why this is even controversial. You don’t get to yank people off the streets while hiding your face and identity and still retain the respectability of an accountable, democratic police force.
“Secret police” are your words, not mine. Seems like you’ve been giving them a lot of thought.

Unlike NYPD, your agents don’t identify themselves & wear masks that cover their faces. Now they ignore judges’ rulings, too.

What law enforcement agents are supposed to uphold … is the rule of law.

I really don’t understand why people talk about NYC like it’s a progressive city. It’s so much more conservative than people realize. Mamdani’s victory to me is a total rejection of the Dem establishment and their tired, scandal ridden, entitled politicians.

I don’t think non-New Yorkers understand how much contempt Cuomo displayed toward us. It wasn’t only about his CVS receipt style list of scandals. He never showed up anywhere in person, never shared a positive vision for the city, never took questions from the press, and still expected to win.

I guess it’s not enough for ICE to rip mothers away from their babies, they have to take away all caretakers too.

Same with lawmakers who set penalties for fentanyl offenses. They don’t know how it’s consumed - many I’ve spoken to genuinely believe a speck of fentanyl kills any human and that no one willingly consumes it. They legislate according to what they believe to be true and we all pay for it.
I cannot overstate how troubling it is to me that law enforcement - our most numerous first responders in this country - do not know what a fentanyl overdose looks like many years into a public health crisis of fentanyl overdoses.

You also cannot overdose on fentanyl when there isn’t any fentanyl!
No evidence of fentanyl exposure in viral K-9 officer incident
