Insane. Tearing down the White House without legal authorization in order to build a palace ballroom for himself. It will of course need to be demolished.
Scoop: Trump has started demolishing the White House's East Wing facade to build his ballroom. The president had claimed construction of the $250 million building wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure. /W @ddiamond.bsky.social wapo.st/4hqBNiU

Here's a question for a rainy day: I'm as confused about wellies as I ever have been. Am I meant to bring another pair of shoes to change into when I get where I'm going? Because we don't all live in the Cotswolds and muck around in the fields all day?

Just overheard an American explaining why he loves London architecture, "bc there are all these old buildings, & then you'll turn a corner & there's this Brutalist masterpiece, I mean how does that even happen?" his British interlocutor took a beat to gather his patience before saying "...the war?"

If anyone's wondering how this is possible, the answer is these strike teams are moving terrifyingly fast. Grab first, ask questions later. We were about 8-15 minutes behind them today for several hours. They're jumping out of vans, chasing people across lawns, taking them from bus stops, etc
30 people disappeared in this shaded area today.

Q: Politico reported on a group chat of young Republicans. Does this just reflect some bad apples?

HOCHUL: Some bad apples? These are the future of the GOP. This is so vile it's hard to find the words to put into context ... there's gotta be consequences ... this bullshit has to stop.
