No one’s rich like Gaston
That’s the pitch for “Gaston”
No one’s complex and tragic yet kitsch like Gaston
He’s a circle that begs to be squared
It’s a tentpole, a four-quadrant hit
Yes his backstory’s moving and layered
And it’s starring a CGI de-aged Brad Pitt

The biggest divide in America today is not between “right” and “left,” or between Republicans and Democrats.

It’s between democracy and oligarchy.

The old labels — “right” and “left” — prevent most people from noticing they’re getting the shaft.

Know the truth.

I am ready to be out there on the streets protesting. Join me in whatever state you’re in!

As usual, the ONLY problem here is tr$&p. He’s so unworthy of my respect, I won’t use a capital t or even spell his name.
America is not under invasion from undocumented immigrants who are mostly peacefully living & working in communities that value their contribution to society

America is under invasion by Trump who is literally sending military to invade & occupy peaceful cities to crush the will of the people there

Anyone else wondering if #GavinNewsom’s speech was actually over when the screen went black? Maybe it was but my absolute first thought was that the station cut him off. Bc that’s the world we are living in now.

Feeling the briefest glimmer of hope that my conspiracy loving, orange-clown worshipping dad said today, “prices are going up and people are hurting,” followed by “Tr$*p’s the deal maker, but I don’t know if he can fix this.” He’s never had anything but love for the man so his doubt is noteworthy.

It’s not that hard to find compassionate solutions that actually work and cost less than our current approach.
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”
Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me
In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

If our politicians insist on draconian approaches to governance, maybe we need some old fashioned responses, like tarring and feathering them for justice.

I would add that there’s a slight learning curve to figuring how to get the online articles you want via your local #library. But just ask a #librarian! We LOVE to help with such things.
Public libraries often have subscriptions to digital editions of newspapers and magazines that patrons can access. It’s a good way to read paywalled articles. Check your local library’s homepage to see what pubs they offer! #LibrariesRock #PublicLibrary

I say: let’s keep the blackout going as much as we can for a bigger impact.
What I learned from yesterday’s blackout. I don’t miss the retailers involved. I don’t need Amazon, I found great deals on Etsy and EBay, and libraries are a national treasure.

Every day, I go around having regular routines and working and such and then I’ll suddenly remember that the country is so, so rapidly falling apart. Then I check the news for as long as I can stand it, which is approx 1-2 minutes.

These are some messed up times.

We are definitely experiencing the plot of a Tragic School Bus series right now.

Wisdom of teens. So spot on.
13yo has suggested there should be a Magic School Bus but for history

she proposed it be called Tragic School Bus

One impact I hope cones out of today’s econ blackout is more people paying attention to what they’re supporting with their shopping dollars. 💪

Hard agree. This PBS series is a balm for the soul.
I can feel the tension leave my body for a bit, watching "All Creatures Great and Small" on #PBS. 📺

I need to check my public library for the Herriot books, for when this series ends. Good therapy, a bit of escape.

We have been thinking about flying to AZ to visit family this spring. Wondering if getting on a plane now is a really dumb thing to do.

I feel like how I did in the early days of the pandemic where every day brought shocking news and deep anxiety. And I couldn’t escape into a book then either.
