Namby/Pamby 2026 will not save democracy.

We need fighters, reformers, and passionate progressives who will demand real change, real accountability, and real consequences.
This is could well be a historic midterm for Democrats.

Don’t waste it on centrists who won’t come through when it matters. Run vocal progressives.

You won’t end Trumpism without anti-corruption crusaders and warriors for social and economic justice who believe in taxes & big, universal programs.
Those claiming Dems should retreat on racial justice aren't hard-headed realists, they're pushing against the electoral tide rather than leaning into it. The story of Gen Z isn't about racist backlash or red-pilled young men. It's the most racially progressive generation in American history. 🧵

We’re five years into the pandemic, and the science is telling a very different story than “just a cold.” COVID affects blood vessels, organs, metabolism, and cognition — and the impacts compound with each infection.

I used to work in domestic violence support. A lot of women end up homeless when they leave their abusers. They also lose everything.
Yeah. I worked in homeless services a few years. A large number of people become homeless because they have such serious disabilities and can't work. I mean things like MS, paralysis, and HIV/AIDS, in the same person. Healthcare system fails them, they lose everything, they have nowhere to live.

I thought the earlier news from A&M was bad, but this is incredibly bleak. It’s close to the point of not having a functional university.
Message to all faculty: your expertise is no longer trusted or valued at this so-called “university.”

We owe those who fought for the Allies such a debt. We owe that debt to every one of them, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, or any other way we divide people.

This is awful. Please read the thread to understand who these men were. Don’t let anyone erase them.

I’m disgusted by the idea that gay is a slur.
At the say time, my cackling over this slur for men whom women *adore*.
Candace Owens: "It's not a coincidence that Justin Trudeau is gay, Obama -gay, Zelensky— gay, Emmanuel Macron gay and married to a trans man”

How the hell does this vile POS have one of the top podcasts in the country?

South Carolina schools recently sent home unvaccinated kids to stem a growing measles outbreak. It turned out 5 of them were infected and, if they'd been at school, could've unwittingly spread it to their classmates for days.

That kind of precaution is now illegal in Idaho.
Idaho Banned Vaccine Mandates. Activists Want to Make It a Model for the Country.
The Idaho Medical Freedom Act makes it illegal to require anyone to take a vaccine or receive “medical intervention.” Leslie Manookian, the activist behind the law, hopes to make it a “societal norm” ...

Many people outside NC believe NC is exclusively republican. In fact, it is a fairly evenly divided state that has been hikacked.
Few people outside North Carolina have heard of Paul Newby, the chief justice of the state’s Supreme Court.

But Newby has had a huge impact on America and his state. He’s done this with the goal of delivering what he’s called “biblical justice, equal justice, for all.”

The story of our times is the story of our people. The institutions were more fragile than I’d hoped. Many (but not all) of our elected officials disappoint. But the people have persevered.
On the occasion of Halloween, @newrepublic.com asked me to write about what’s going on in Chicago and I wanted you all to know what randomized terror feels like. And also that as the federal government fails our kids, everyday Chicagoans are showing the courage of trying to protect them.
ICE Is Terrorizing Chicago for Halloween—and Parents Are Fighting Back
Fear and a whiff of tear gas hang over festivities this year. In response, even people who aren’t usually politically engaged are mobilizing.

That smile says "people are going to be giving me, the Vicar of Christ, sports jerseys for the rest of my time on earth, and that is not a problem I thought I would have in my papacy."
This is a real: Pope Leo XIV was gifted a Buffalo Bills jersey.

The Diocese of Buffalo said Bishop Fisher met with the Pope on Monday to discuss the ongoing bankruptcy filing, among other issues.

Pope Leo was said to have "expressed his gratitude for this symbol of hometown pride." #billsmafia
