I love tip 9. Writing is so much better as a social activity! A 5 minute conversation with a writing partner can save me an hour of spinning my wheels.

The other tip I would add is to start writing at the beginning of the research process not the end because writing = thinking.
The Society for Freshwater Science's non-profit society journal Freshwater Science is committed to supporting first-time authors in the publication process.

Check out these tips from our Editor-in-Chief Elizabeth Anderson on publishing research.

The last chapter of my dissertation, Consequences of dam removal for reservoir carbon storage and emissions, is finally out!

We modeled emissions and burial before, during, and after the removal of three focal dams to evaluate the net impact of removal on C balance. (1/5)

Spent the evening with 38 other nerds learning about how my local government works from highly competent and passionate town managers. The first of 14 sessions. An excellent salve for the torrent of bad news at the state and federal level.

I wondered when judges would start bringing up the major-questions doctrine in relation to drastic DOGE cuts!
In her opinion, among other bases, she finds that OMB's order likely violates the "major questions" doctrine. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I was talking to a post-doc who works with me about this. She said "I did my PhD during a pandemic, now I am starting a post-doc and science is being defunded, maybe it's a sign I need to do something else with my life"
She is a brilliant scientist, science needs her!

Well, that was an absurd game in every way.

Puking. Fainting. Kon Knueppel grabbing Tyrese Proctor's leg to keep him inbounds. And of course, Cooper Flagg saving the day.

Been tough sledding the last two games, but the Blue Devils are halfway to an unbeaten ACC schedule.
