Today, DeepSky announced a direct air capture project in southwestern MB.

This tech is highly costly, risky, unproven, and only serves to delay the transition off fossil fuels. Deeply disappointing to see the MB Gov’t supporting this @manitobagov.bsky.social

300+ folks in rainy Winnipeg today to #DrawtheLine for justice, connecting the dots between the climate crisis, genocide in Palestine, growing militarism, and migrant scapegoating. Two strikes against carbon capture. First, even if it works, it's more expensive than switching to clean renewables. And second, it doesn't work at scale. Those pushing carbon capture as a panacea for Canada's fossil fuel cartel are greenwashing. #EnergyTransition #CleanEnergy

“Getting people to go through the registration process to present to a council committee and have them show up to be heard, only to hold a vote and temporarily cancel public input, is both insulting and counterproductive.”
