An attorney ⚖️, UMC clergy spouse, Swiftie, and mom living in the RGV. Weeping may last for the night, but joy comes with the morning.
Just wrote a 250-word comment defending “Mary, Did You Know” on a friend’s Facebook post, so I’m really starting to feel the Christmas spirit 😊

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

I have extremely mixed feelings about getting my kid a phone for Christmas, but a definite benefit will be that she can watch YouTube videos on her own account

I can't stop thinking about the purported drug smugglers being murdered by the US military. The punishment for drug offenses isn't the death penalty. This is just bloodlust and men in suits playing with lives they don't care about. It's truly grotesque and gravely compromises this country.

My mom keeps saying not to tell her any spoilers for Wicked: For Good and I’m like “mom. Wicked has been out for 20 years. Also Romeo & Juliet die.”

One of the most baffling things to me about the modern economy (and imo the source of a lot of its problems) is the way the “value” of a company appears totally divorced from how it actually performs.
The top-10 carmakers by market cap make up 75% of global passenger car sales.

Tesla makes up less than 2%.

The Tesla bubble will be widely documented in history books.

Hey #cookieparty, does anyone know a good dairy-free white chocolate? Walmart used to have one but it got discontinued.
(pic for tax; the white chocolate is for ginger cookies)

I consistently get the tech billionaires mixed up and I’m not even sorry.
All super rich guys sound the same now. It’s all “I sleep four hours a night and spend the other twenty hours a day developing a product that’s going to bring us the best widespread poverty anyone’s ever seen.”

Omg @jjtogs.bsky.social you’re gonna hate this so much

Only hate read things that are funny
the hater's council just vetoed this actually.

"a real hater hates attention seekers by ignoring them" wise words from one hater elder.

"hate reading is for homework dorks" said another senior hater on condition of anonymity as this statement was a compound diss targeting other council members
Yes, we give you permission to hate-read 'American Canto'

The cast of K-Pop Demon Hunters made a valiant effort, but Taylor Swift is still my top artist for the year.

I see we’re gonna have to bust out “the holy family was an immigrant family” again
These are screenshots from an actual DHS press release that just went out offering "self-deportation" as a "gift" to "illegal aliens" this holiday season.

This administration is truly repugnant.

A random thing I’m thankful for this year: I was reviewing a science lesson with my 10 yr old, which mentioned HIV as an example of a virus. She had never heard of it before. That would have been unthinkable when I was her age.

Am spending some time scrolling TikTok today and I regret to report that the white women did in fact take all the wrong lessons from Wicked: For Good.

This is just gutter racism and it’s a standard that would never be applied to say, the descendants of Italian immigrants who fled the lawlessness of Southern italy post unification and now staff this fascist administration bsky.app/profile/publ...

It’s useful to think about things like this in numbers of tenure track professors.

$53M is 575 assistant professors. Or more than thirty percent of the total number of full-time faculty at LSU.

Watching Wicked with my kids in preparation to see Wicked: For Good tomorrow and since it’s almost Christmas I thought I’d remind everyone that despite the movie being PG, Wicked is NOT a book for children!!

All right, y’all. I think this may be THE cranberry curd tart. I made the NYT one last year and this is clearly superior.
