Something tipping the scales for me in terms of quality fantasy is side characters. A really bad book will have the same flaw as others- anyone other than the leads is set dressing. They aren’t genuine people with their own human motivations, and only exist to color the world of the Main character

I really don’t have feelings one way or another about Zutara but people under estimate the power of alchemical union symbolism (union of opposites) we psychologically crave it and if you are affected by it even through fiction it will change you permanently.
The narrative, the character development and even the symbolism supported Zutara. They had so many parallels and the show made it clear their romance was crucial to the Atla themes: Oma/Shu, Tui/la, moon/sun, redemption/justice... They also had the best chemistry and stood with each other.
