It's an old and obvious pattern. An unpopular president - failing on the economy and losing his grip on power at home - decides to launch a war for regime change abroad.

The American people don’t want to “run” a foreign country while our leaders fail to improve life in this one.

They thought it would hurt everyone except for them. They knew they were voting for people to be hurt, they were excited to watch the suffering. They just didn't think they'd have to experience it too. Which is incredibly delulu, but here we go again with the shock that they also need safety nets

At least someone there still had some morals.

Weaponized gratitude is a key tool in the abuser's toolkit. The goal is to convince the victim that they owe the abuser so much, they should feel guilty for wanting to complain.

"Rudy Giuliani nursed an injured crow back to life with warm milk, then drove to a place not a liquor store, and then got in a car accident. After this, an unscrupulous stranger littered the backseat of his car with scores of emptied airline-size bottles of Gilbert’s vodka. Two may have been gin."

The administration’s intimidation and extortion of universities and corporations is a means of controlling culture, but also a shadow tax without oversight.

It’s a mob shakedown that allows Trump to hand out tax breaks as gifts and bribes while enacting a punitive system that demands fealty.

Joe Biden relitigation is catnip for the press because it gives them a chance to avoid saying difficult things about the present situation we are all in while also getting to talk about themselves

The Media is failing us at every turn.
I am so over the media's framing of these kinds of issues. Who effing cares if the Trump administration wants to "make" Canada a state?

The correct framing here is: "Is the United States' position that it will no longer be adhere to international law when it comes to Canada?"
WELKER: Does the US still want to make Canada the 51st state?

MARCO RUBIO: I think the president has stated repeatedly he thinks Canada would be better off as a state

You cannot persuade people like this. They will be this way until the day they die. Dumb and dangerous.
This from @jdcivicscience.bsky.social nails why small town, red America is not turning on Trump.

What in the hell??? This is torture.
ICE stripped a German green card holder naked, drove him from Boston to Vermont to Rhode Island, put him in a cold shower, deprived him of medication, sleep and food until he collapsed.

No one knows why he was detained.
Green card holder from New Hampshire 'interrogated' at Logan Airport, detained
Fabian Schmidt’s family said they are unsure of why he is being held. They said he has a recently renewed green card, and no active issues in court.
