At the launch of a speaking tour intended to connect with Americans struggling with higher prices and stagnant wages, President Trump mocked the word “affordability” and touted how high the stock market had risen.
At the first stop on his affordability tour, Trump mocks affordability
What was supposed to be a speaking tour to connect with Americans struggling with higher prices and stagnant wages was instead a greatest hits campaign speech.

The president is falling asleep durring a White House cabinet meeting with each member praising him for his resilience. What are we doing America? This is so embarrassing.

A real president does this.

Thank you to every veteran who’s worn the uniform and carried the weight for the rest of us — just respect 🇺🇸

NEW: The US Army website for its bases in Bavaria, Germany told its soldiers and employees that it might need to obtain free food from the German government during the US government shutdown.

The Army later altered publication to remove a list of food banks, but we have the original text here:
US Army Tells Soldiers to Go to German Food Bank, Then Deletes It
The initial 'Shutdown Guidance' for the US Army Garrison Bavaria included instructions to go to German food banks.

What's happening in TX-18 is more obscene than not seating Grijalva during pro formas. Turner died in March. Abbott delayed the special election until yesterday, and now it goes to a runoff early *next year.*

Congress can and should require special elections to be held within 90 days of a vacancy.

It's the exact same ideology embraced by the elite enslavers before the Civil War: some people are better than others, and have the right-- and maybe the duty-- to rule. It was the Mudsill Theory then, and it's the Mudsill Theory today, dress it up in whatever elegant language you may.

The government has been closed for a full month — and federal workers who have missed two paychecks are now using credit cards to pay their bills and visiting food pantries to stock their kitchens.
After a month of the shutdown, workers face mounting bills, car repossessions

We can’t let this happen.

And any Republican who refuses to renew health care subsidies for hardworking American families, saying we can’t afford it, needs to explain how they found $1 trillion in tax cuts to give away to the wealthiest people in America.

I have to stress how highly unusual it is for the most powerful military on the planet to be blowing up random boats in international waters.

I can’t help but feel that several criminal charges will ultimately come from these strikes.

It makes far more sense to interdict them.

Speaker Johnson has been adamant that he will not bring his lawmakers back into session until the Senate passes the House’s proposal to fund the government.

Time has only emboldened — and angered — him.
Government shutdown showcases Mike Johnson’s increasingly bold style
