I'm looking for a new job.
Fully remote since I'm living in the Japanese countryside, but I'm flexible on working hours.

If you know someone that needs a Kotlin/Java backend engineer with also experience in leading teams and mentoring please pm me.

Retweets are appreciated!

GitHub actions code injection attack via malicious crafted branch name. Interesting! The Pull Request wasn't even merged but must have done something when GitHub Actions ran on the request. Be careful with your automated testing systems running on untrusted user code!

Free advice if you’re looking to hire senior leaders: Make them write an essay about their first year in that position.

You’ll know:
- If they can listen and read
- If they can think clearly
- If they can change other people’s minds

These are top skills to have and difficult to assess otherwise.

AI has aged like clip art.
Art ages like wine.
It's different from, for example, the hate that modernism got as it supplanted its baroque predecessors - that was a conservative reflex that faded with familiarity.

AI imagery has its moment for a few months. Then it got old. The more people see this midjourney-ass shit, the more they hate it.

First app to do this will become the go-to Bluesky client. It should be a priority for devs working on clients.
Are there any Bluesky client apps that preserve my reading position in the timeline? I’ve tried the official app, Skeets, and Openvibe, none of which seem to know that reading position is even a thing. A fresh launch of the app puts me at the very top of the timeline every time.

This year I focused on how AI is being applied to immunology. These applications include predicting T cell binding, mapping immune communication networks, and discovering new antibiotics. Here is a round-up of my writing on AI + Immunology:

Happy Black Friday everybody!

For the next couple of days, we’re taking $50 off every Model 100 and $25 off every Atreus. Combined with free US shipping, this is one of the best deals we’ve ever offered.

Just received my Atreus from @keyboard.io. Super nerdy cool. Light and portable. Current setup should work well with #emacs.

You might think it’s funny (because it’s true), but every time I go to the US, it’s salad without dressing and plain beef for me (and still feels like gambling).

I can’t trust bread or anything processed.

My wife once told the partner of a colleague that you’re never ready, like you’re never rich enough.

They were thinking they wanted their own house first and what not.

Nine months later, their daughter was born.
Getting accidentally pregnant with my first child when I was both not ready and yet in fact was perfectly ready as it turned out was a valuable lesson for me on the folly of trying to control everything and also my own resilience

Recently, browsers added the ability to go directly go to a webpage highlighting a particular piece of text.

So, I set out to automate the process of creating these links using Typinator!

ICYMI I recently interviewed the creator of @clickhouse.com, Alexey Milovidov.

We dove deep into what ClickHouse is so fast, why AI companies love it (hint: its had a vector data type since 2012), rewriting Zookeeper (yikes), and how math informs database design.
