Walking or cycling is the only way to truly know and understand a town or city’s soul! Yes, it takes time but driving will never supplant active transportation for understanding how communities are connected or not!
Can I recommend this great study on how the more detached people are from streets (esp. when they're in a car), the more frightening those streets feel - which is plausibly a self-reinforcing effect www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
On a bike, you’re not hidden behind metal and glass, you’re a part of the world around you. This visibility fosters human connection, whether through a nod, a glance, or just being seen. It’s a reminder of shared spaces and shared humanity.

So what are effective options for addressing affordable in any high growth city or region?
In just five years, the income needed to afford the median-priced home nearly doubled—from $68k to $131k. Getting payments back to 2020 levels would require interest rates to be nearly zero, per @harvard-jchs.bsky.social

Surprised by Cardiff, Wales’ extensive pedestrian zone that is further connected by 7+ historic 19th century arcades in center-city. Businesses seem to thrive and rain did not discourage vibrant activities. Three universities totaling 90K+ students out of total population of 370K big influence.

Definitely a worthy read that asks some serious questions. Cities cannot build their way out of traffic congestion! Transit must be an integral part of the solution for many reasons including environmental sustainability.

Nearly three million Americans donated to Kamala Harris on ActBlue last year. That statement of public support is the perfect antidote to autocratic oppression. You should definitely sign up for a No Kings protest on October 18, and invite your family and friends to carpool with you. nokings.org

And most Americans did not flinch or recognize it!
It happened.
And yet, "I challenge you to find even a moderately tepid and clear-eyed statement from any national Democrat. National Democrats seem all invisible as the military takes over policing the streets of the capital and prosecuting its crimes."
Goed gedocumenteerde analyse met conclusie: Fascism has come to America.

“The precise moment when and where in recent weeks America crossed that invisible line from democracy into authoritarianism can and will be debated by future historians, but it’s clear that the line itself has been crossed.”

Wake up America! The damages being inflicted will go far beyond this administration reprehensible policies that are nothing less than an assault on our democracy.

Correcting’s this administration’s policies will take decades and there will be preventable deaths on both sides of the Atlantic. All driven by greed ! Nothing more, nothing less.
Director of European Transport Safety Council: "Europe now risks being flooded with oversized, under-regulated US pick-up trucks and SUVs – heavier, more dangerous to other car drivers, pedestrians and cyclists, and completely out of step with Europe’s vision for safer, more sustainable mobility.”
This is an INSANE decision by the E.U.

“By signing up to mutual recognition of vehicle standards with the U.S., the E.U. has waved the white flag on road safety. This is not a technical detail – it is a political choice that puts trade convenience ahead of saving lives.”

This will kill people.

We must begin having more discussions on how bike are used. Cities must act on policies that lower traffic speeds, eliminate right turns on red, add mid-block standardized hybrid beacon pedestrian crossings and enforce traffic speed.

Questions worth our asking ourselves more often. The more time we allow ourselves to spend outside in nature, whether rural or urban, the less time we want to spend inside the confinement of vehicles. Explore active transportation.
