The Statue of Liberty being shut down feels right on the nose.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul indicated today that the state does not plan to cover the costs to keep the Statue of Liberty open during the government shutdown. Since the landmark is managed by the NPS, it is expected to close once federal funding lapses next week.
