Pleased to share my latest review article with @tandfresearch.bsky.social, taking a deep dive into neuronal autophagy, how Huntingtin coordinates it, and how the process goes awry in Huntington’s disease.

Likely my final #FluorescenceFriday post of 2024! 🔬

Here’s a kinetic showcasing pkMito dynamics and the heterogeneity of axonal mitochondria

I'm looking forward to all of the incredible microscopy from this community in 2025.

Happy Holidays everyone! ☃️❄️

Some #MicroscopyMonday to kick off the week! 🔬⛄

I paired #lysosome and #mitochondria kinetics side-by-side to highlight their distinct axonal motility.

I thought this nicely shows the need for organelle-specific metrics when designing high-throughput screening assays.

It's also #FluorescenceFriday 🔬
so, here's a taste of the lysosomal transport you can find at my poster (HCB-23)

At TDI, we've been integrating #microscopy and #phenomics to identify and validate phenotypes of ALS patient-derived spinal motor neurons for subsequent drug screening.

Sharing #FluorescenceFriday early before the food coma hits this weekend! 🦃

Here are longitudinal kinetics showing dose-dependent degeneration from an exogenous stressor: part of an assay developed for drug screening with iPSC-derived neurons. 🔬

Fall hikes 😌

Some highlights from optimizing AAV transduction efficiency of an FL-reporter in iPSC-derived motor neurons.

Excited about striking a balance between sparse-labeling and 'painted' coverage.

I feel the science-to-nonsense ratio is much better on this site:

Enjoy these jittery mitochondria sifting through axons of patient-derived motor neurons thanks to the pkMito probe from @spirochrome.com

Always a good feeling to find a positive hit in my axonal regeneration assay🔬 #neuroskyence

Once in a while,
glia (cyan) migrate out of organoids and completely steal the show from neurons (green) and their axons (magenta) 🔬

Only a few days before getting back to the lab grind, so we took a boat to the Westman Islands and hiked up the Eldfell volcano... I have no complaints about these views! 🌋😌🇮🇸

The Icelandic tundra is simply breathtaking 🏔️

The highlight of this photo is not the Strokkur geyser blasting off,
no,
it is the fact that we found a bit of sunshine 🇮🇸🌞

Stepped away from the microscope to explore Iceland. So far, I found just about all of the peace and beauty you could ask for 😌 🇮🇸

These liquid nitrogen-infused cereal bites (called "dragon breath puffs") that I came across near the beach are a must for future lab snacks 😎

I've been enjoying all of your introductory skeets, so here we go!

I'm a neurobiologist who recently joined the ALS Therapy Development Institute after my postdoc to identify phenotypes and therapeutic targets (ie: organelle & cytoskeletal dynamics) via patient-derived neurons - such as these:
