The FBI right now could probably use all those experienced senior career professionals with decades of investigative experience that they fired for absolutely no reason.

Not really an overstatement to say that the test of a free society is whether or not comedians can make fun of the country's leader on TV without repurcussions.

Trump’s entirely capable of firing the Fed chair and wrecking the dollar to distract from his close friendship with a criminal sex abuser. That’s the nature of the man.

Trump & the GOP just passed the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in US history.

17 million kicked off insurance

$1 trillion in Medicaid cuts

Largest SNAP cuts ever

Largest veterans' cuts ever

$4 trillion in new debt

$1 trillion in handouts for billionaires

Pure evil.

Stephen Miller says they are “actively looking at” suspending the writ of habeas corpus, which is only allowed when the US has been invaded or during an insurrection, which would not allow people to challenge their incarceration in court if they are arrested and detained.

Even *if* you accept Stephen Miller’s (textually, historically, and morally indefensible) claim that undocumented immigrants are not entitled to due process, you’d *still* need due process to ensure that the individuals at issue are, in fact, undocumented.

His argument fails even on its own terms.

When he says “home-growns”, he’s talking about US citizens. He wants Bukeke to build more torture prisons in El Salvador for Americans. Not me saying it, Trump saying it. bsky.app/profile/atru...

This is Senator Jim Banks from Indiana. No need to tell you he’s a Republican—it’s clear by the cruel disdain he shows his own constituent who was laid off.

Note: he waits until the door’s about to close before telling him he deserved it & calling him a “clown.”

He’s not just cruel—he’s a coward.

The US government is a Jenga tower and right now the Trump admin is pulling out every piece and one will cause a complex system collapse. We won't know what precisely will do it but something will and it'll cause a collapse. I think a lot of things we think matter won't by the end of the year.

Outliving the authors of one’s obituaries is no mean feat.
Both the New York Times and Washington Post obituaries for Jimmy Carter have joint bylines including writers who have been dead for years. The Guardian ran an obit with a single byline—and yes, the writer has been dead since 2021.
