I'd just like to point out that we spent an entire shipment of air defense interceptors' worth of money on new signs for a name change that isn't even legally the name of the DoD.

A major thing going on here is familiarity because people are more familiar with Tomahawk and even if they're not it has a cool sounding name, unlike JASSM, but the underlying priority is getting Ukraine long range precision strike options that can hit more hardened targets
What's with the fixation on tomahawk missiles and Ukraine?
Tomahawks are large (about two stories tall) and typically fired from surface ships or submarines. Moving them on land can be spotted from the air and targeted.
If the Ukrainians say they want them, sure, but seems an odd choice of focus.
