Und mir fallen auf Anhieb übrigens sehr, sehr viele Kolleginnen ein, von denen mir irgendwelche männlichen Kollegen irgendwann mal gesagt haben, sie seien „schwierig“. Diese meist raunende & nicht näher erläuterte Abwertung von Frauen in der Wissenschaft ist so verbreitet wie normalisiert.

As a primatologist, Jane Goodall was a huge inspiration to me. I admired the way she describes chimpanzee behavior with such detail and empathy, and she’s inspired so many people and advocated for chimpanzee conservation and welfare.

However, I'm dismayed at what her narrative leaves out (1/10)

#OTD 19 September 1991, walkers in the high Ötztal alps on the Italian border, found a body melting out of the ice. It turned out to be the remains of a c.5200 year old man preserved with all his kit.
Of course, it was essential to replicate him in Playmobil.

Real learning is hard. It’s a slow, confusing process where you sometimes have to read long books with dreadful covers, and look at footnotes and shit. It requires us to recognize and then overcome our biases as best we can.
