Another year, another closing the gap report showing we aren't actually closing the gap. The over policing of FN communities is a national shame

The lateral violence from the self-designated leaders of the Jewish community towards us dissenting Jews has been awful for years. It is now reaching truly horrific levels of abuse.

$20.8 BILLION.

All to do less work for more money.

All so the LNP could pretend to have cut govt spending on the public service.

When public service is carried out by the private sector the motive is profit, not service.
Just re-upping this again because the Temu Trumps in the LNP insist on bringing every culture war here: the Morrison govt spent $20.8bn on consultants in its final year - the equivalent of 54,000 FT public servants. The private sector benefits with govt cuts. No one else.

There is no such thing as a safe seat.

Demand politicians earn your vote.

Don't accept mediocrity.

Excuses about "costs" or "need to bring the public with us" are lies.

Governments have power, and budgets are about choices & priorities.

If it's a priority, it is always affordable.

Hi brown people,

So many of us are from countries that have been colonised.

So it’s even more important for us

- to stand in solidarity,

- to show up tomorrow at a protest and

- to start the conversation with the aunties and uncles who repeat the right wing rhetoric they hear in the media.

The deal with liberal democracy is that you get to be yourself so long as you aren’t hurting anyone else.

Trans + gender diverse people should have the freedom to affirm their gender. Healthcare involved in this process should be between the person and their medical specialists, not Barnaby Joyce.

Trans and intersex people exist whether the Coalition wants them to or not. Not everyone is born with XX or XY chromosomes - over 60k Australians were born with variations of sex characteristics.

This is imported culture war bullshit from a party so fundamentally out of touch with reality that they’re trying to distract you from their horrific election policies with their own ignorance.

The Government should not be mandating what it perceives to be the “correct” way to live your life.

All this handwringing about public sector wages and the pieces never mention the police got a 40% pay rise, and starting salaries will be nearly $100,000. There is money, the government is just choosing to give it to cops instead of doctors and train drivers.

The $167 billion debt that shows why rail workers should make a deal
The state’s budget problems are a big factor in the rail dispute – the Minns government can’t afford to splash the cash.

Another journalist, Max Blumenthal, absolutely shredding Blinken to bits at the same press conference where Sam Husseini was forcibly removed

Labor were too cowardly to deliver their own election commitment & instead chose to pass laws giving the minister powers to expand income control anywhere – the same rules they helped block in 2020 when the Coalition tried to entrench it.

And First Nations people are the ones who pay the price.
If Dutton is elected in the coming months he will use the legislation put in place by Labor to expand income control around the country.

Labor had the chance to end the program altogether, but they refused. Thanks to Labor, Dutton can immediately expand income control without any senate oversight.
