Jules Gill-Peterson isn’t mincing words: Forget euphemisms like “gender euphoria.”

“We need hormones, sex changes, and surgeries.”

Not affirmation—access.
This Historian Has Seen the Future of Trans Health Care
Jules Gill-Peterson doesn’t want to fight for trans joy. She wants to fight for what trans people really need: resources, hormones, and surgery. Her latest arena? The US Supreme Court.

How do we improve humanitarian response? Shrink the distance. We must support local communities, first responders on the frontline & put their needs & priorities at centre.

Excellent discussion in Brussels with @hadjalahbib.bsky.social & @hadjalahbib.bsky.social.

41 terminations, impacting 5 million people. The past few weeks have been nothing short of horrific for the sector and the communities we serve. We at @mercycorps.bsky.social are doing all we can - but lives will be lost b/c of these actions by the US government.

Backstory to Starmer throwing Canada under the bus at a news conference with Trump in Washington 27 Feb. Talk about brown nosing.
Historically, the European country Canada was the closest with was the UK - for obvious reasons.

But that is quickly changing as 🇨🇦under Keir Starmer fails to show solidarity with 🇨🇦.

Trudeau notably visiting 🇫🇷&🇪🇺 but not 🇬🇧 on this trip.
As Britain declines to show solidarity against Trump, Canada looks to the EU
Justin Trudeau is in Brussels today meeting with EU leaders, following his visit to Paris yesterday. He's giving London a miss.

Really excellent thread here comparing HTS and the Taliban in terms of sanctions regimes - the next big hurdle for humanitarian response orgs to cross in #Syria.
A brutal regime falls. But there’s a problem: the UN and several countries say the victorious rebels are terrorists. What to do? There’s no playbook for Islamist insurgents faced with the challenges of running a country. But there is a precedent, in Afghanistan. 1/
