If Democrats don't want Trump to start a war with Venezuela, they can drop their demands to release the Epstein files at any time.

Agreed. Enough of the “even a broke clock” bs. His every move is 100% anti-democratic and amoral. There is absolutely zero reason to approve of anything he has done as president.
maybe given the current political situation, finding things about which to say “the president has a point” is not only not a good look but actively bad and fucked up? Maybe maybe resist the impulse to say “well I agree with this chump” and find something else to talk about instead?

depends on what you mean by “its position” … because when they double down on vilifying “outsider-groups,” destabilizing objective Truth, undermining legal precedent and faith in the judiciary, and calling for perpetual war against wokeleftistdrugsailors, things seem to work out pretty well for them
a thing to ask yourself re: the GOP's electoral position is what could happen over the next year that could *improve* its position? and what could trump do, plausibly, that might *boost* his numbers with the public?

The president is a political cartoon of corruption come to life, a gaudy grifter who is selling off pardons and lining his pockets, building a golden ballroom and protecting his fellow sex predator elites, all the while regular Americans are suffering and struggling to make ends meet.

Run on *that*

Make it make sense
The president has illegally declared war to stop fentanyl trafficking from a country that does not traffic that drug, claiming its leader is trafficking drugs himself, the day after pardoning a former leader of a country who is a convicted drug trafficker.
Just to level set

while I’m being cranky, access journalism needs to go. When the president does his “I’m alpha because I insulted you” thing somebody needs to fall on his sword and say “what the fuck is wrong with you, old man?” on a hot mic. the hero of the wizard of Oz is Toto.

In sci-fi, the only way to see DC covered in fascist symbols is if we lost WWII.
AOC to @pabloreports.bsky.social : A swastika is one of the clearest symbols of hatred in all of humanity… to remove that designation… indicates a possible collaboration with those very elements, which I think is genuinely frightening to any American.

This everyday, for everything
For me it's the way the press pool just quietly went along with it because he's the president

The entire point of this country is that we don't have to let some guy do whatever he wants just because of his title. We don't have to respect him or go along with him just because he holds an office
I don't know why the "Piggy" thing is bothering me so much. It's one more unforgivable thing in a list of 20,000 unforgivable things, but I've been mad about it for like 12 straight hours.

NYT Pitchbot: A one-trick pony whose one trick hits really really hard
The Republican president is a pedophile who has doubled my healthcare costs and let scores of violent criminals out of jail. But a Democratic mayor-elect wants to make busses free in a city I don't live in. I have never felt more politically homeless.

Here's a gift link to the New York Times' coverage of the initial Tea Party rallies in April 2009 which inspired the media to treat it like a massive movement.

Check out how tiny the crowds were:

Philly: 200
DC: "several hundred"
Boston: 500
Austin: 1,000
Houston: 2,000

Remember April 2009 when about 250,000 people took to America’s streets in Tea Party rallies and the media was like “oh man, the Dems are in trouble?” Approximately 28X as many people took to the streets to protest Trump yesterday. Didn’t even make the NYT front page.
In April of 2009 I observed the Tea Party rally in Salem. As this front page story says, there were a couple hundred people there. This past weekend in Salem there were roughly 2-3000 people at the Hands Off rally. Yet the Tea Party coverage seemed to take that event far more seriously.

I still lament the loss of the pea coat. Did it keep you as warm as a plastic, easy to pack parka? No but who cares
Military clothes were historically designed for function, not fashion. High-waisted pants kept shirts tucked and allowed for better mobility. The Ike jacket was inspired by British battledress, which involved a cropped jacket that felt comfy when driving. Why change?
