Hi! I finally cut the cord and deleted the Bird app. Kinda like it here without the crappy dudes that control the X and 🧵.

Decided to try to regulate my nervous system & get back to fighting this Dark Era. I am worth it & so are you.

Breaking news: A federal judge convinced the Justice Department to walk back President Trump’s efforts to assert control over the D.C. police and signaled she would issue a temporary restraining order if the changes are not complete by Friday evening.
Judge: D.C. police chief remains in command, but Trump can likely demand help on immigration
Mayor Muriel E. Bowser and D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb said the order by Attorney General Pam Bondi was unlawful and suggested they would not comply.

Let me expand on this point. The Constitution is quite clear that you can't distinguish between kinds of persons in running the Census. And that is especially about apportionment for Congress. The original language makes it pretty clear when it talks about "free persons". But the 14th amendment ...
As Wessel states, now bulldozing the Census. It's critical to note that not counting people "in our Country illegally" violates the constitution. It doesn't speak of citizens or legal status, simply "the whole number of free persons".
And now the census

Today is probably a good day to point out Article 4 Section 5 of the Indiana Constitution, which allows for apportionment of senators of representatives only after the decennial (every 10 year) census

As expected, military sources have now clarified that the U.S. was not running low on munitions.
The aim was simply to cut support for Ukraine, since Trump supports Putin & Russia.
As usual, Trump and his administration lie.

NEW FOIA Files newsletter is out!

A cache of documents I obtained via #FOIA from the first Trump administration shows how its Iran policy, including the US withdrawal from a key nuclear deal, arguably laid the groundwork for last weekend’s bombing.

The left better start figuring out how to weaponize today's decision rather than just (rightfully) criticizing it.

- Go back into Judge Kaczmaryk's court to dissolve all of his nationwide orders.

- Pass gun bans and insist any order applies only to plaintiffs.

This was always the thing about Trump.

To have a principled position on anything—including a principled anti-war position—requires principles.

Trump's only principles are power and grift. Nothing else matters. And we told you this. Many, many times.

A government doesn’t need to reprogram AI. All it needs to do is censor the information that the AI pulls from.
Elon saying he’s going to reprogram his chatbot’s view of history is a perfect example of why these kinds of AI products aren’t the neutral “tools” people always defend them as. They’re little political projects reflecting the ideologies of their creators

Remarkable from WaPo poll: Trump sinking fast on immigration among independents.

56% disapprove of handling of issue
62% oppose removing foreign students
52% oppose renditions to El Salvador
Only 21% want Abrego Garcia left there

Engage, Dems.

New piece from me:

Trump Is Suddenly Bleeding Independents. A Brutal New Poll Shows Why.
Immigration was his best issue in the polls. But now he's sinking on it. Maybe Americans care about the rule of law after all.

Breast cancer diagnoses rose by over 300% between 1973 and 1992.

Was there a breast cancer epidemic?!

NO.

Mammograms were implemented for screening in 1976.

This is also about autism.

Trump's team backing down in front of Harvard should embolden EVERYONE to stand up to them. Do not comply in advance. Instead say "Fuck you, make me."
Another crucial lesson from this Harvard situation: There is no plan B. Trump's team had no idea what to do if Harvard said "no fuck you."

By first doubling down on the threats and then backing away and lying, they weakened their hand even more! Harvard woudl be wise to say no to the next threat.

Whatever happens, I'll never forget that when Republicans began to break with Trump, it wasn't because of the rule of law or human rights abuses or anything like that. It was because they were losing money.

In 2021, McConnell successfully filibustered a Democratic CR ahead of a government shutdown and forced them to accept a clean one instead. What happened this week - a total cave on a totally partisan long-term funding bill - hasn’t happened in the 20 years I’ve covered Congress.

That's exactly what the yes votes today signaled: there is no bill bad enough for us to block it.

As bad as this one is, the next one will be magnitudes worse and include all sorts of horrors.

The thing about this that absolutely kills me is that this will only embolden Republicans to stuff *even worse* stuff in future spending bills, knowing that there are enough Dems who will vote yes on cloture no matter what.
March 14, 2025 at 9:14 PM
I don’t believe that either of the options was a lesser evil, and also, I agree with this position on Schumer’s handling of this whole cloture vote and the past 2 months of this administration.
Even if you agree with Schumer that voting for cloture was the lesser of two evils, he handled this with such total ineptitude, in a way that could not have angered and demoralized Democratic voters more if it had been designed to, that it's impossible to justify his leadership role.>

No Dem Senator has to follow Schumer here. This is a weak stategic move driven by fear and learned helplessness. Don't follow him. He's leading the party into irrelevance and helping Trump and Musk in the process.

Call your Dem Senators and ask them not to join Schumer's surrender tomorrow.
SCHUMER just now: "While the CR bill is very bad, the potential for a shutdown has consequences for America that are much, much worse."
