Once in a century political opportunity here, if only there were a party to claim it
"According to the…annual Harris Poll, for the 1st time, a majority of Americans believe billionaires are a threat to democracy. A remarkable 71% believe there should be a wealth tax. A majority believe there should be a cap on how much wealth a person can accumulate." www.nytimes.com/2025/12/14/o...

me glancing around and finding some far crazier shit to point to that is currently happening around us every time i see an 'isn't it crazy to think we (y'know, in human society) used to [do/believe thing]?" sort of post like "sure but idk if there's truly an outer limit on how unhinged we can get!"

Perfect screenshot. Worf as a focal point is already killer, then your eyes travel to Data in the friar haircut and you think "this can't possibly get any better," and then there's the finishing blow of Geordi in his space visor plucking a lute

i was just having a Big Rant about being unable to find reference images for wildlife the other day. it really is this bad AND widespread in search engine results already and the only place that offers (ineffective) filtering at all rn is pinterest.
this field biologist does a great job highlighting the insidiousness of AI editing

these one-click AI edit buttons are incredibly appealing to many photographers, amateurs and professionals alike, and are framed as innocuous

this is worth sharing and educating people about

i take it back, spending what will likely be 4-5 hours on my nails (while listening to things, answering messages, ie i'm not just doing this one thing real slow) is me respecting my own time and SANITY holy crap every time i look away it gets worse HOW IS THETE STOLL KORE WORDE?!
this is going to be the slowest manicure to have ever been manicured but hopefully it'll be worth it! goddamn you, magnetics that melt under topcoats!

(for extra "you chose this, YOU decided this was a good idea" wtf: i'm also gonna place individual glitters bc i don't value my own time!)

Extraordinary courage from Ahmed al Ahmed, a Muslim, 43-year-old father of two, who bravely risked his life to save his neighbors celebrating Hanukkah.

Praying for his full & speedy recovery.

And so deeply inspired by his example.

The absolute funniest thing about this is that the house pictured is legitimately an abandoned meth lab, as someone in Derek’s replies discovered (see thread for proof)
If you want to do something like this, why not buy a $150k home in a small town in Italy, France, Spain, or Mexico, instead of having nine people share one bathroom after they eat at a restaurant called "Stinky's?"

The devastation I feel about this attack on science in particular is hard to cope with. It’s like watching my dad die all over again. I would do anything to spare someone a death via pancreatic cancer.
A tiny trial in New York has shown that personalized mRNA vaccines can provoke massive, lasting immune responses against pancreatic cancer, even as sweeping federal cuts now threaten the fragile labs required to produce them.

ngl when i said brad lander had my vote for whatever he wanted to do next i was very much hoping it'd be congress. NY10 is my district and you still have my vote, sir!
I’m running for Congress because we need leaders who will fight, not fold. I recognize this moment, and I’m ready to meet it. #FightDontFold #LanderForNYC #LanderForCongress

It's encouraging that regional health alliances are stepping up to counter disinformation spread by federal health agencies.

idk wtf i'm gonna do with this stuff, but at least it's cute. totally out of this yarn now or i'd consider making another of the little lace flowers just to have it be 2/4/2... crocheted wool trivet-placemat-coaster things with acrylic/rubber dot nonslip backing.

anybody want the set?
