All I keep thinking about is how Pete Hegseth raised questions of the competency of a Black four-star general and Air Force fighter pilot who was the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Hegseth asked did he get the job “because of his skin color? Or his skill? We’ll never know, but always doubt.”

If CFPB goes away, the situation will be worse than the pre-CFPB status quo.
Most of the laws the bureau monitors were in place before it; they were governed by other bank regulators who were somewhat indifferent.
With a shell agency, nobody will be monitoring banks and financial scammers.

I cannot emphasize enough how stupid it is to publicly threaten DOGE employees with violence.

You might think it's fun to blow off steam, but trust me: the FBI raiding your home at 5am is not fun. A federal criminal case will bankrupt you and ruin your life and career.

Finished the 1st season of Severance. I loved the absurdity of the "company perks". A solid mockery of the way companies try to incentivize workers to produce more without substantial compensation, and how we've fallen into the trap that they are some kind of grand gesture toward us.

🔥NEW INVESTIGATION: After a California task force warned of rapidly increased fire risk, legislation was introduced to limit development in fire hazard zones, including in LA.

The 2021 bill was blocked by real estate lobbyists & politicians they own.

Developers and real estate interests crushed efforts to limit development in high-wildfire-risk areas — including in L.A. neighborhoods now in ashes.

I genuinely mean this in the most sincere and nice way possible: If you're using the term "Bernie Bro" in the year 2025, it's a very obvious cry for mental health help. Please realize that you urgently need self-care to fix whatever's gone wrong in your life.

Given the fetishizing of STEM/tech, which is at the root of the H1B dust-up (and Vivek & Elon's screeds against U.S. "mediocrity"), it might be a good time to interrogate our obsession w/STEM in the first place. Here's a piece I wrote several years ago that does that

In my 2007 book THE UPRISING, I did deep reporting on the H1B program. It relies on CEOs’ Great Labor Shortage Lie.

As one Microsoft worker told me: “They say they need H-1Bs because they can’t find a qualified American, but what they mean is they can’t find a cheap American.”

What’s happening on Twitter shows exactly why it was so important for the left and liberals to leave the platform in the first place.
