Well, just got a "STOP WORK ORDER" on a grant. AFRL is the funder, and as far as I know it has none of the Trump trigger words in it. It's open research on hyperspectral remote sensing. Hopefully it will be resumed after review. Two students are funded on it, with a collaborator.

Random wild fact: You can find the Delaunay triangulation from the convex hull. Given a set of points, "lift" them onto a hyperparaboloid of one extra dimension. Find the convex hull of the lifted points. Then project the hull back down. It will give you the Delaunay triangulation. That is wild!

More lack of reasoning ability of ChatGPT. This is o1. It first used a bubble sort. Then I told it twice to make it faster. Finally it recognizes that each number appears once and exactly once in the array. But it fails to make the simple next logical step.

LLMs can do some amazing things, but they still lack a lot of common sense. It thinks that people typically keep feathers in a vacuum-filled container.

ChatGPT o1 is definitely better, but still obviously not capable of reasoning, at least in my opinion.

I'm a Python 2 programmer. When I give a movie 7/10, it means I gave it a 0.
I’m a frequentist, when I give a movie 7/10 it means if I watch it 10 times I enjoy 7 of them
i'm a bayesian. when i give a movie a 7/10 it means i'm 70% sure that it's good

Just for amusement, here is ChatGPT struggling with a limit: chatgpt.com/share/673eae.... (The correct answer is 5/2.) At one point, it outputs garbage. Gemini did much better with it.
