🧵 There are a lot of misleading claims out there about the SAVE Act. Let me set the record straight: I voted for the SAVE Act for the simple reason that American elections are for Americans. Requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote is common sense.

I’ve just called both of my Senators pleading with them not to let the Save Act pass in the Senate. Millions of people’s voting rights are in jeopardy - including adoptees. Many of us don’t have birth certificates at all or that match the names on our passports or other IDs. Please call yours, too!
