The Charter of Rights is foundational to 🇨🇦's democracy & national vision of fairness & due process. Decades of cases have confirmed its value to labour rights. Danielle Smith takes a big step toward authoritarianism, tossing it aside for fiscal & political convenience. #canlab

Utter contempt and disrespect from Bruce McAllister.

Cutting off the kid's mic and limiting his freedom of expression is one thing, but saying he should be spanked is a fireable offense from a supposedly neutral moderator. Bruce needs to be removed immediately.
At tonight’s “consultation”…

When a high school kid tried to raise concerns about the teachers strike, Bruce McAllister cut the kids mic and then suggested his parents should have beaten him more.

Listen to the clip yourself…

It’s…

Telling.

Who, exactly, are these immigrants that have made Danielle so angry? Filipino nurses who provide our healthcare? American computer scientists who make Edmonton an AI centre of excellence? Ukrainian refugees who've opened new restaurants? West Africans who have revitalized our francophone community?

Alberta as we know it today simply would not exist without the millions of immigrants and refugees who built it, who loved it, and who were proud to call it home - including my grandparents and my mum. This bitter xenophobia is as unAlbertan as it’s possible to be. I’m ashamed. I’m disgusted.

By taking her panel on a roadshow of town halls on topics like immigration Danielle Smith is doing what she does best: throwing gasoline on all the worst fires in the province. She wants to pull more Albertans into the heat. I’m very worried about this too.

Make your voice heard.
I think this grotesque campaign is inflaming and weaponizing the worst instincts of a minority of Albertans. But hate like this is like a virus or a cancer. It spreads and grows and corrupts. I am embarrassed for my province. And afraid.

This Alberta Next exercise is pretty thinly veiled.

Mark Carney was asked whether the US strikes on Iran were a violation of international law. In response, he ignored the substance of the question and listed off a bunch of grievances the West has with Iran.

It’s a shameful and cowardly response from someone who claims to defend international law.

He doesn't have a clue what he is talking about as he tries to stoke war in the Persian Gulf.
No wonder voters booted his arse out of Parliament.
