At some point, you have to question how seriously everyone is taking the health and wellbeing of the players. That is why the previous commissioner was relieved of her duties. bsky.app/profile/sout...
This is a colossal failure by the league and its television "partners," and it's still only their second biggest fumble by the league this season. Remember, they made two teams keep playing after their colleague died and came back to life in the stadium on the pitch. That was 3 months ago. Alright.

NWSL needs to face harsh realities about climate change (heat, wildfire smoke + more). Players shouldn’t have to play under these conditions & it’s not safe for them or fans. I don’t go to games during heat advisories & sold my playoff tickets last year due to poor air quality. [1/2]
This entire thread should be essential reading for the whole of NWSL leadership. I don't attend matches where temps are expected in the 90s bcs I've experienced heat stroke once in my life & don't wish it on anyone. Fans were roasting during the heat deliberations today at CPKC Stadium. 👎
Teams are re-entering the pitch. But it would appear we just had a WBGT reading of 92.4. The PA anouncer told everyone that the players were coming to warm up. To say that this has been a cluster would be an understatement.

Concerned about the Stars v Gotham NWSL game tomorrow- AQI in Chicago is 235, which would currently warrant being postponed by the league. Can’t imagine it will be safe to play tomorrow given the current wildfire smoke map. 150+ AQI is widely thought to be harmful, especially for intense activity.

I would like to have a word with whoever at NWSL scheduling decided that two of Gotham’s home matches in the first half of August should be at noon and 4 PM. Just miserable timing with summer weather and heat. I can’t be the only fan who is dissuaded from going due to the timing.
