Not actually a garden
Oof, okay
Okay, I will preface this with the GIGANTIC disclaimer that I promise I know how this looks, and I *swear* this is not personally motivated: If you have an old #LiveJournal account, and it has things you still care about in it, download it or import it to Dreamwidth SOON. Details:

This is how I find out 😭 I am so lucky to have seen The Invention of Love as a teenager and I'm glad I made a point of seeing Leopoldstadt two years ago. What a gift.
The man and the person I was when I knew him are so far away now as to be in the other country that is the past, but still. But still.

I am very sad that Stoppard is dead. I imagine the man who gave me THE INVENTION OF LOVE is, too.

It may have faults in forgetting, but the last time I flew out of Boryspil in Kyiv, there was a nail bar for pre flight manis.
Actually, you know what? Let’s stop complaining for a second. QT this with a GOOD airport. Defend that title as much or as little as you like. But let’s hear about airports that don’t suck.

Amazing
GOOD NEWS! Researchers have revealed a synthetic glycosystem -a sugar-coated polymer nanoparticle- that can BLOCK SARS-CoV-2 from infecting human cells, REDUCING infection rates by NEARLY 99%. Acting as a decoy, the molecule BINDS to the spike protein, PREVENTING it from attaching to real cells.

Oof (and also, this pertains to far more than food - just about everything, honestly).

My senator, the nominal leader of the Democratic Party, is refusing to listen to his members and constituents, so calls to his office go unanswered- and there's no voicemail! So I faxed him- (202) 228-3207- via faxzero.com

This is terrible, but if you've watched Sesame Street in recent years- it's not great. There are no children regulars. Elmo, Abby, and Cookie Monster are the only recurring monsters. And the whole thing has been miserably optimized- it's Army of One or Accelerate Your Life for toddlers.
HBO has declined to renew “Sesame Street” for new episodes. The series that’s been teaching generations of little kids since 1969 now has no studio.

Please consider donating to Sesame Workshop to ensure the residents of 123 Sesame Street are still around to teach kids of all needs and backgrounds.

This is probably just a Me Issue, but describing books as "spicy" feels like saying "cussing" or "sugar honey iced tea." Bluntness isn't for everyone, though, so I'll work on being less judgemental.

And therefore, never send to know for whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for youm
You know 'whom' is going to die. You just don't want to accept it.

Edward Sapir (yes, that one) writing in 1921 said within 200 years, "No logical or historical argument will avail to save this hapless *whom*."

Garner's says it's at Stage 4 (of 5) of Language-change Index.

I've been thinking about this a lot, how a bunch of white Americans/Canadians (?) colluded with a foreign authoritarian government to censor diaspora BIPOC in the US. It is obscene. I am so sorry
