Incredible paper.

These dinosaurs could literally have seen the Yucatán impactor with their very eyes.
These were the dinosaurs that faced the asteroid.

Some of the last survivors. They lived in New Mexico, 66 million years ago. Among them was Alamosaurus, the size of a jetplane.

We unveiled them, and their true age, today in a new paper in

🗿 The moai really walked

New evidence shows Easter Island’s giant statues were engineered to 'walk' upright using their curved bases & forward tilt. A 4.3-ton replica moved 100 m in 40 min with just 18 people, & no logs or sleds.

Paper day, but a bitter sweet one.

The last paper out of CLAMATO, a project we started 12 years ago with a crazy idea: how about we try to do Lyman-alpha forest with galaxies not quasars?

So many ups & downs! Am grateful to Ben Zhang for shepherding it over the finish.

A few years ago, UK SciTwitter got mad when the Royal Society published a report showing that scientists who have had a chance to work abroad get a career boost 🤷🏻‍♂️
There was a time a few years ago that if you even mentioned you were working late or on the weekend, SciTwitter would pounce on you, saying you're perpetuating toxic work habits etc etc... I'm glad we seemingly moved away from that and respect that everyone has their own clock that works for them.
