Angela Rayner accidentally pays less tax than she should have, resigns, and the media gives her hell.

Nigel Farage deliberately pays less tax than he should have, and the media gives him a free pass.

That, right there, is the problem.

I have a large tin in a green union jack pattern bought sometime in 2012, at the height of the pride in Britain sponsored by the Olympics, Olympic opening ceremony and all that.

I don't cringe when I see it because that is the Britain of which I am proud. That's what the union jack means to me.
Personally I own one Union Jack mug, in anarchic colours, and a 2012 Olympics-branded Union Jack biscuit tin that now holds the fire lighters by the stove, and at this point even *those* make me cringe to look at.

Generally positive from @khcambridgelabour.bsky.social councillors re. Arbury Court redevelopment consultation so far. But... Its still suspicious as hell that all the traders there had their tenancies timed to end on the same date 5 years from now. And y'all know it is (1)

One of the strangest ironies of the last ten years has been watching Britain immersing itself as deeply as ever in memories of WW2 while proudly turning its back on the project that emerged from it.
