Randomly remembered the time we went to Green Bay for a wedding and saw a dude practicing his sweet nunchuck moves in an empty lot downtown.

Random writing advice from my wife:

"You remember in Anaconda, when the Anaconda eats Jon Voight, but then a little bit later it pukes him up and he winks at you? That's how you need to write your first draft. You need to just puke it up, and have the Jon Voight wink draft."

Every few months I like letting my hair grow too long, my beard get too scraggly, and my fingernails too long. Then I groom everything in one day to pretend I'm getting one of those ugly-to-hot montages from the movies.

Considering how strongly the Bible is anti-wealth, pro-immigrant, anti-power, pro-empathy, and very socialist, it’s curious just how many self-identifying “Christians” stand in opposition to that.

I'm trying to find writers and publishing professionals who can give a presentation at my suburban library this summer. We've had a series the last two summers that have been very successful and well-liked by attendees, but continuing to find presenters is a challenge.

I'm a stay at home dad but also a writer, which is an odd place to be because being a specifically stay-at-home _Dad_ is, I'm pretty sure, one of the least universal experiences around.

Remember: today is National Throw Out the Thanksgiving Leftovers Day/National Last Day to Eat the Leftovers Day, depending on whether you practice the 3- or 4-day observance.

Having a toddler is a series of moments explaining that no, that thing that happened two seasons ago didn't happen "yesterday," and being handed half-eaten snacks while they tell you they're "still hungry."

I will say, having so many fewer followers here than both The Bad Place and Threads means anything I post feels much more "yelling into the void."

I haven't posted here in months, but I'm over here. Honestly, I'm not much of a social media poster these days, but perhaps I should pick it back up?

I realized tonight that Julia Donaldson, author of the most wonderful "Room on the Broom," "The Gruffalo," and "The Snail and the Whale," is one of my biggest influences as a horror writer.

This probably doesn't mean anything if you're not a parent, but still.

I've realized that the last few years I've become much more of a consumer of social media than a producer. I lurk and read and occasionally "like" and even less occasionally reply, but I don't post independently very often.

I honestly don't know how people keep up with multiple social media apps at a time.

I think that means I'm old now and need to be expelled from the village to fend for myself in the wild.

I saw this place got opened up to everyone, and realized I forgot I set up an account some time back when my request to join was randomly approved.

So, good start, new social media place
