It also makes me think about my own state of art. I have come across several cool looking writing workshop programs, but they cost a pretty penny. It gives me some form of imposter syndrome: would I be good enough to justify spending that, or is my writing hopeless?

I think most dads want to be good dads, it just happens that they have no support from work or society in general to do so, and little expectation from society. With the amount of inept dads in pop culture, of course someone would be surprised by one putting in work.

I'm lucky to be able to spend this time with my kids and have the occasional time to work on my craft, but man, it occurs to me too often that men are provided little support or encouragement to be fathers that are present with their children in general, let alone as a primary caregiver.

I love Dabble too! I'm going to tell my wife that I'm using the same writing software as you and she's going to be super impressed by me.

This is not necessarily a bad thing.

Great list. I'm a Local H fan (underrated, still putting out awesome albums) and I'd add Pack Up the Cats from them as well.

I see lots of the same people posting, and perhaps that's just my circle, and my interests. I don't know if these things are actually growing though. Do we have lots of new regular posters coming? Or is it the same voices from 3 years ago at 3 or 4 different sites?

I know there are more users of social media than ever, but I wonder if, save some prolific posters, per capita posting is down.

Not sure where I'm going with this; perhaps I'm just thinking about this with the advent of these new sites or sites opening up.

I am sure I'm not alone in this. Social media is interesting and I like to see others post, but I've grown too reluctant to share myself. I have to wonder if I'm not holding up my end of some social media bargain: I share, you share, we all share content.

When Facebook first came out I was a pretty prolific user. Same with Twitter. But over the years, my desire to post and share things has felt less compelling. I like to stick to my fiction writing. Posting other things feels too uncomfortable.
