The danger of individuals buying elections means that they can game the system to perpetuate their wealth at the expense of ordinary people.

For 200+ years, Congress has had control over spending. It’s called the power of the purse, Article 1 of the Constitution. Anyway, RIP

I saw OPM's FAQ on "deferred resignation" earlier this afternoon, but I'm pretty sure they've changed it since then. And...just look at this mendacious, self-congratulatory nonsense.

Attention Seattle Urbanists: your city council is about to remove all the neighborhood centers from the comp plan. All. Of. Them. I would get to emailing them and every senior planner at OPCD

To the Vancouver Sun, this is a pretty awful article title. Worse, it feels deliberate & agenda-driven. If there’s a “war” here, it’s a long war on social housing being waged by the wealthy NIMBYs. But you create a convoluted mess suggesting it’s the Premier waging war on opposition to such housing?

I can’t believe Daniel Penny was acquitted. Choked a guy out for 6 minutes and the jury called it self defense. I’m so ashamed of New York.

one of my iron clad beliefs is that there are very few actual “schemes” in the world. instead, there are just a lot of stupid, venal people and quite a few of them hold positions of real power and authority
"Corporate leadership is as stupid as everyone else and freaked out about viral shoplifting videos" isn't as exciting as "the pharmacies are doing fascist performance art so they can uh murder all poor people" but sometimes things really are just stupid

Your Black Friday reminder that in 75% of U.S. industries, a smaller number of companies now control more of the business than they did twenty years ago.

We must stop the monopolization of America. Shop small if you can, please.
