The lack of accountability the SPEED Act would enable—championed by fossil fuels & Abundance folk alike—is exacerbated, ironically, by the fact that it would legislatively preclude the use of NEPA to substantively demand better outcomes in the public interest! WTF?
Riddle me this: The Abundance agenda, purports to seek outcome (vs. process) oriented decision-making via "permitting reform."

If that's the case, why the hell are they supporting the SPEED Act, which would neuter the National Environmental Policy Act by making it "purely procedural"?

Perhaps the problem is U.S. policy fixation on the fossil fuel/AI data center House of Cards.

Setting that aside, Flegal's post contains very serious omissions suggesting she: (1) Doesn't understand NEPA beyond centrist think tank data slop; and/or (2) Is attacking NEPA in bad faith.

The Trump Admin will fire you for having a Pride flag on your desk but downplays & normalizes swastikas & nooses?

Over 400,000 Americans died fighting Nazism. Hundreds of thousands died fighting slavery & Jim Crow.

This is a slap in the face to every American who died to defeat bigoted ideologies.
U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify swastikas, nooses as hate symbols
The military service, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, has drafted a new policy that classifies such items “potentially divisive.”

Paging all reporters to think very, very carefully about WTF is going on at the Abundance Conference later this week.

Because it'll be slick, designed to generate favorable media coverage, & amplified by an ecosystem of podcast, substack, & big social media accounts.

Dig beneath the surface.
How psyched are the Abundance Bros, as they pack their bags for Abundance Con in DC later this week, that their demand for "permitting reform" is getting major backing from the Koch Bros-affiliated Americans for Prosperity?

What exactly is “efficient” about setting up bureaucratic red tape that delays life-saving disaster relief efforts?

Nothing — it’s just stupidity, and it is getting people killed.

The sheer scope of attacks on public lands—for fossil fuels, mining, data centers, trophy homes, transmission lines, etc—is immense.

These attacks are all premised on exploitation and extraction, whether for power or profit.

And they are attacks that all of good conscience should oppose.
Have you heard of the Roadless Rule?

Well, it's a pretty amazing, popular, and science-based provision limiting commercial logging and associated road construction in undisturbed landscapes. And now it's under attack: bit.ly/RoadlessRuleNews

Kilmar was illegally ABDUCTED and deported by the Trump Admin. He must be brought home NOW.
