Drivers have killed at least 57 pedestrians/cyclists, so far, this year in Connecticut.

That number has increased by two because of preventable deaths on CTDOT maintained roads in Stamford and Branford.

U.S. Coast Guard will no longer classify swastikas, nooses as hate symbols
The military service, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, has drafted a new policy that classifies such items “potentially divisive.”

If we don’t signal our virtue every now and again - then so many believe they are utterly alone - “virtue signalling” is not there to say “aren’t I good” but “there are more of us than you might imagine” and “fuck you for demanding that only the brutal and the bullies may speak”

Bitterly cold and rainy World Day of Remembrance in New Britain. Heartbreaking stories from families who our transportation system has failed, but it doesn’t have to be this way.

We don’t have to continue accept traffic deaths as a normal part of American life.

Last night a driver sent a pedestrian to the hospital in critical condition at the intersection of Route 72 and Route 72 in Bristol.

The map shows pedestrian fatalities there and in the area since 2015.

If People magazine of all places is writing about safer streets and giant SUVs then maybe our political leaders could show some courage and not capitulate to the vocal minority who want drivers to keep on killing
“There are solutions out there,” Cohen insists. “We don't need to wait for something to be invented. We just need our leaders to have the political will to put them in place so we can start saving lives.” Via @people.com.

Absolutely correct
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

If we have all the physical tools we need to correct the errors of previous generations, why are Connecticut's roads still so deadly for pedestrians?

To the Rhode Island elected officials who are amplifying resources for food assistance or donating to food banks: thank you!!

But folks who rely on RIPTA to get to those food pantries also need better service, not unreliable service. Please stand with them too. 🙏🏽🚌
Many food pantries in Westerly are accessible by RIPTA Route 95x (Providence-Westerly express) The problem? There’s only one Providence-bound trip in the morning and one Westerly-bound trip in the evening.

Early bird PVD-Westerly trip got cancelled as part of service cuts. Service before & after:

For years, but especially for the past year, Democrats have been in thrall to the idea that they need to chase an imagined median voter, and adopt that voter’s positions. Mamdani’s victory shows another way: hold principles, and persuade people to share them.
