Every photo of this man projects “mean dumb asshole” which is exactly what you’re looking for in a Librarian of Congress

Lunchtime reading: THE HEARING TRUMPET by Leonora Carrington. Delightfully bizarre.

It was so wonderful to meet up with @kendrabean.bsky.social while she's in Georgia for a Vivien Leigh event! We hadn't seen each other since 2015!

My 6-yo grandniece always asks me if whoever I am showing her a video of has died. When I showed her Gene Kelly doing the barn dance routine from SUMMER STOCK ‘50, she asked me if he died. I said, yes, and she replied “he probably danced too hard”

Finished this little gothic gem this evening. I need more Caroline Blackwood books in my life. Thank you to @nyrb-imprints.bsky.social for the copy

I love this for you, my friend! ♥️📚
Went to the Rizzoli bookstore in Manhattan today with @812filmreviews.bsky.social to see my book! I signed a few copies. It was surreal.

Just finishing up BASTARD OUT OF CAROLINA by Dorothy Allison. Heartbreaking but full of fighting spirit. Bone is such a great character.

While watching that horrifying, globe-shifting exchange with Zelenkskyy, I couldn't help but think about what a deliberately staged reality-TV moment it was, with two people ganging up on one and screaming a classic, totally petulant reality-TV accusation: They hadn't been thanked enough.

Don’t threaten me with a good time! I expected VICTORIAN PSYCHO by Virginia Feito to be dark and bloody but I did not expect it to be funny as well. A razor sharp (pun intended) gothic satire of classism and the country estate in Victorian England. A+. No notes. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Felix Gonzalez-Torres ‘Portrait of Ross in LA’ represents his lover’s weight (in sweets) before AIDS took its toll.
Each day, as visitors help themselves to sweets, the weight drops, only to be replaced by the museum, granting a longevity denied to Ross.
Heartbreaking.
