I'm putting on another Brisbane LGBT+ and Allies in Tech pub meet: Thursday 13 Nov at The Plough.
It's a fun, casual event for drinks, finger food, networking, and good chats with fellow folks in (or interested in) tech. See you there?

Just witnessed the most wholesome interaction at my local Aldi between a young Sudanese man serving a Japanese mother and toddler, conversing in Japanese, which he had learnt in school.

I know there's the very racist protest this weekend but migrants are not the problem and only enrich our society.

Really wonder how the Katter situation might have gone down if the lines of questioning came from culturally diverse reporters.

(Genuinely, would he have downplayed his reaction? Would he have gone down even harder?)

This morning's magnitude 5.6 earthquake is the largest to have occurred in southeast Queensland since the magnitude 5.6 earthquake off Fraser Island in 2015. The Fraser Is quake was followed by magnitude 5.4 and 5.2 aftershocks in the following days, a reminder that further large events are possible

I’m guessing that at some point in the future we’ll see our present as the moment the world lost some last vestige of its moral, and humanly caring, sense.

Still discovering the world of sport and learning how pervasive the sexism against women's sport is. It's everywhere.

Like the free suburban shuttle buses that take you to the stadium *starting* after the first half of the women's game. So most people would probably miss the entire game travelling.

When I use Google now I just automatically scroll past the AI summaries like they’re banner ads
This is really important. Do NOT use the AI summaries at the top of google searches. Ignore them. This is especially important if you don't have any prior knowledge about the topic, but also a good general rule.

Search sources, scrutinize them carefully and double-check with other sources.
Google’s AI Overviews will not only confirm that a gibberish idiom is a real saying, it will also tell you what it means and how it was derived -- often including reference links.
