Jasmine Crockett: "The problem is that Americans thought it was okay to take a full fledged criminal and make him the President of the US and then they want to act aghast when he does criminal things. Let me tell you, we have a thug in charge of the US and if we don't wake up we may not have a US"

Headed home. Fun season. Thanks for following. Happy holidays to all y'all.

And remember, during this festive season, to borrow a line from @Knox_Harrington: Pay no mind to SEC fans speaking in bad faith about every program except their own: www.indystar.com/story/sports... #iufb
IU football crashed the CFP party — and shouldn't have to apologize for any of it.
Apologize for nothing. That’s Indiana football’s identity now. Embracing it will win you games.

Wall Street is betting that Trump's tariff policy won't actually be totally idiotic. I wouldn't call that a safe bet.
Trump: We're subsidizing Canada to the tune of over 100 billion a year. We're subsidizing Mexico to almost $300 billion. If we're going to subsidize them, let them become a state

If anyone has told me on Jan 6, 2021, that in four years Trump would be returned to the White House, I wouldn't have believed it. If someone had suggested he would also be named "patriot of the year," I would have laughed. This can't really be true, can it?
Fox Nation gave Trump the “patriot of the year” award last night. That award to the guy who incited a deadly attack on our Capitol to overthrow our govt. He’s as deserving of a patriot award as Fox is deserving to be called a news organization.

I think the two things might have happened independently. The business model for smalltown newspapers just doesn't work anymore.
This tracks. It’s a chicken or the egg thing, though: what came first, the political mindset or the abandonment of local news?
New: Trump won the popular vote narrowly. But in news deserts—counties where there are no local news sources or reporters —he won in a landslide. Latest by me and @volk_maps for Medill School’s Local News Initiative. localnewsinitiative.northwestern.edu/posts/2024/1...

Yeah I was thinking about this recently. The shocking part of Watergate is no longer what the president did, but that he was held accountable.
I’m about to lecture on Watergate and I feel, for the first time, that I have to explain to students why it was such a scandal.

“No, people thought the president wasn’t a king. Even Republicans! Honest!”

Research supported by NIH has led more than 100 Nobel Prizes and has supported more than 99% of drugs approved by federal regulators from 2010 to 2019.
But come January, NIH may face a wrecking ball

There is no evidence that arming teachers reduces gun violence in our schools—it’s ineffective and introduces new dangers. We need research-backed, comprehensive solutions that prevent gun violence to keep our schools safe.
