New piece on why it’s unhelpful to characterise COVID debate as ‘lockdowns are bad’ vs ‘lockdowns are good’ when it was really about people who claimed that COVID was 100x less fatal than it was + optimal to have a massive epidemic immediately before vaccine… vs those who sense checked these claims.

After DOGE accessed the NLRB's systems, someone with an IP address in Russia tried to log in, Berulis stated.

Whoever attempted to log in was using one of the newly created DOGE accounts — and the person had the correct username and password, according to Berulis.

Spoiler alert: it’s not good.
The NSF's flagship fellowship program typically gives offers to 2,000+ young scientists. This year, in the face of looming budget cuts, that number was halved: only 1,000 received an offer. Our story on what that means for the science talent pipeline: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

About once a week I think about the lifelong Democrat I spoke to in South Carolina who almost voted for Trump because of “the economy”. This past week I’ve thought of her multiple times a day. I hope she takes solace that her vote for Harris *was* a vote for a strong economy. And I hope she’s ok.

This is a big deal. Spread the word. But it’s tiny compared to the totality of what’s happening at NIH. Cure Research for all cancers, Alzheimer’s, everything is being gutted. Intentionally. It’s all getting burned to the ground but the news isn’t getting out. The new cures won’t be there for you.

So I’ve seen a few places making fun of this but they are missing the place where he qualifies his description of the job with, “and it will be automated…” so…is he even proposing more jobs here? Bananas.

Several hundred were at today’s #HandsOff protest in #SalemMA.

We’re proud of our legacy of resistance to tyranny and of our community values, which are directly informed by our city’s unique history.

We’re a place that wants to welcome and work for everyone.

And nothing will change that.

When they say transparency they mean secrecy.

When they say efficiency they mean corruption.

When they say gold standard science they mean grifter quackery.

When they say Make America Healthy Again they mean they don’t give a fuck if you live or die as long as they retain power and profit.
So much for transparency: the CDC's entire FOIA office has been gutted. Person familiar tells me: "Everyone, there's not a person left."
