Hi Minnesotan Bluesky:

The DFL has a well-known transphobia problem. I'm organizing to change the party platform in 2026 to be explicitly supportive of trans people in Minnesota. This will provide a basis for expelling transphobia from our party.

I had a meeting on Thursday about moving off our current faxing application on to one in the cloud. I asked the obviously idiotic question of “but what if we just didn’t accept faxes anymore?” and everyone was like “impossible!”

Anyways, I’ve done all these things.
I have never done (9) (it's anti-social), (13) (Blockbuster never operated in my country), or (20) (those things were *expensive*).

I am teh oldz.

Work goal for the day: to get through all my required leadership and annual training.
Personal goals for today: get a tasty lunch and stop in at Wet Paint for art supplies. Watch GBBO.

While it isn’t impossible, not having a federal direct file makes it difficult for states to have their own, including Minnesota.
Yet another way Trump is screwing working families: this was a FREE tool we set up so folks could file taxes directly, without paying an expensive service. So who does cancelling it benefit? The answer is not working Americans, but it sure is big corporations who profit off them.
IRS to States: Direct File Tool Is a No-Go for Next Tax Season
The IRS told its state partners this week that the Biden-era Direct File tool won’t be offered for the 2026 tax filing season.

The University of Minnesota just announced the "Meal-A-Day Program" which will provide one meal a day for SNAP benefit recipients while the SNAP program is limited or unavailable. This makes me very happy. A lot of students, faculty, and staff at the U need this, unfortunately.

I just spent another hour+ on phone with Xcel, trying to get them to apply the appropriate winter electric rate for our heat-pump heated house with high-efficiency boiler backup. Xcel never responded to the *three* letters from the MN AG office on my behalf. Any reporters want to talk about this?!
If you've installed a heat pump (or have electric baseboard heat or similar) in Xcel's territory in Minnesota, make sure you're on the residential space heating rate - it's more than 40% cheaper than the normal wintertime residential rate.

In a parent Facebook group someone asks are there any good restaurants in walking distance to the Children's Theater and the answers were all "no, nothing in walking distance." It is THREE blocks to Eat Street, how close does something need to be to be walking distance? Fucking suburban moms...

He’s the only out #LGBTIA+ person running for #Minneapolis #Mayor. Upon election, he’ll be the first out gay black mayor of a major US City, and vows to NEVER leave our trans siblings behind.

Let’s make history on Tuesday!

Too much coughing/sickness to go trick-or-treating. It’s a bummer. We’ve got lights on, but it’s unlikely any kids show up. Thinking I may just go put my PJs on.

Kid is coughing, coughing, coughing since getting home. Just cancelled plans for grandparents to take her to Children’s Theater tomorrow and the Diane’s Place reservations me and my husband have. 😭

Preschool decided to not split up the rest of the year into winter and spring and just do one mega session for which I just got the bill. We have VERY inexpensive preschool through the Minneapolis Parks, but charging for January-May all at once is shocking. 🤯

For the second year in a row, Minnesota saw a drop in overdose deaths and hospitalizations, with opioid overdoses dropping by 32%.

Minnesotans dealing with addiction deserve support, respect, and dignity - and we’re making the investments to back that.
