The shield is held by an ethereal woman with thick, textured hair that glows gold and orange. She wears golden armor and a feathered cloak. She has two pairs of wings which frame the male figure. A painting of a starry purple nebula with three peony flowers growing in front of it with lush green stalks and leaves and blush-pink blooms. Some of the stars appear to be emanating from inside of the blooms. A painting of a light-skinned, black-haired woman wearing a red and black dress. She is a magic-user who is playing a gittern (a predecessor of the guitar) and is accompanied by her familiar, a floating manta ray. Her lower right arm is missing and is replaced by a ghostly transparent arm. She stands near the ocean and is surrounded by coastal plants, including yellow sand verbena flowers. In this version of the drawing, the manta ray is a soft pink color. The tone of the painting is brighter and more naturalistic; the ocean fades palely in the distance. Have you ever heard of an allonautilus? The fuzzy sea peach at the top of my oil painting is the extremely rare allonautlius. Its only been documented in the wild a couple of times.

We’ve been reading ‘My Street Remembers’ and creating abstract maps in Grade 2. Ss used sharpies & transparency sheets to trace sections of our Flemingdon Park map and then created abstract collages to go underneath #abstractart #EduSky

With arms crossed and wearing long white robes, a young woman leans against a pillar and offers the audience an apathetic glance. Behind her, the warm glow of the setting sun—unseen behind low billowing clouds—illuminates the water and the tilted remains of a futuristic city. It's not clear if the city is sinking or rising out of the water. On close examination, human and animal bones can be seen in relief on the surface of the pillar. The weathered stumps of other pillars can be seen in the field around her. Small creatures, cute and furry, stop for a snack on alien vegetation, which includes red flowers that stand vibrant among the muted greens in the foreground.

Yep, all those lil drawings in the frame have a meaning in the story! Had lots of fun with them.

Baby pigeon mystery.

A six-panel comic. In panel 1, text says "People often wonder, why don't I see baby pigeons? Here's where they're hiding:" and there's an egg with an arrow pointing to a question mark, then an arrow pointing to an adult pigeon. Panel 2 says "Pigeons don't nest in trees. They nest in sheltered spaces on or in buildings. This keeps their babies safe from weather and predators." There's a pigeon nesting in a sheltered cavity in the side of a building. Panel 3 says "The hidden babies look like this: like moldy potatoes, but cute" and there are two baby pigeons looking, well, like moldy pink and gray potatoes with yellow fuzz. Panel 4 says "Older baby pigeons hide in plain sight. When they leave the nest, they're adult-sized, but they're still young and learning" and a fledgling pigeon is flying out of a building saying "aaaaaa". Panel 5 says "Here's how to identify these young pigeons" and shows a fledgling pigeon with arrows pointing to these features: eyes may be gray-brown, pale-edged feathers, smaller "nose" (cere), subdued hues, and looks worried. Panel 6 says "Scientifically speaking, though, all pigeons are sweet babies" and there are three very cute round pigeons, a gray, white, and red one, with arrows pointing to them to make things look scientific.
