Ratcliffe named an active CIA intelligence officer at 5:24 p.m. eastern time, just after midnight in Russia.

Witkoff's flight did not leave Moscow until around 2 a.m. local time.

Former Putin advisor said on Telegram that Witkoff and Putin were meeting in the Kremlin until 1:30 a.m.

The national security adviser is supposed to oversee policy coordination. The secretary of State is supposed to lead on diplomatic negotiations. In theory, neither would be the clean-up crew, because they’re supposed to prevent the mess from happening in the first place.

if we take it to be true that the tariffs are aimed at getting americans to buy US-made products, then what's the point of rolling them back when they become painful? the entire point is to cause financial pain to change consumer behavior. what's the strategy here?

The amazing thing about the last few days is that people are not saying openly enough what has happened. The Chinese stared the US down and the US blinked. It could represent the end of an era and former US allies in Asia-Pacific had better watch out.

A bit underplayed that the Homan sting didn't reportedly come out of a public corruption investigation, it was a counter-intelligence one. Which means they somehow made the not-very-far leap to him from initially targeting a foreign and almost certainly state actor.

If Trump really wanted to sanction Putin, he could. It would be no problem. Congress would go for any sanction he wanted. So any time Trump puts a condition on sanctions, it’s just another piece of evidence that he is protecting Putin from sanctions and helping Russia in the war.

Before deploying National Guard troops to the nation's capitol or, god forbid, other states to fight crime (supposedly), some of these red-state governors better take a look in their own damn backyards. (CNN chart)

There's often a lot of confusion over the "cone of uncertainty" in hurricane forecasts. I tried to break down here what it means--and perhaps more importantly, what it doesnt. 🧪
When a Hurricane Is Raging, Here’s What the Forecast Actually Means
Hurricane forecasts feature a “cone of uncertainty,” but what is it actually showing? Scientific American breaks it down for you

For the record, our division commander BANNED things called “presence patrols” in Iraq.

“If you don’t have a specific task & purpose, your ‘presence’ doesn’t do anything.”

National Guard stating they are now doing presence patrols in DC.

A complete waste of soldier’s time & effort.

Lowest tix for Oasis at Wembley was £324 ($435) on Jul 31. Avg price was £1,168 ($1,569).

At least 200 people reportedly snuck in. That's £64,800 ($87,050) to £233,600 ($313,830) in lost $$$.

FBI agents are not trained to patrol streets. And every agent that is assigned to do that is NOT investigating:

*foreign spies stealing gov’t and trade secrets
*foreign and domestic terrorist threats
*crimes like fraud, corruption, trafficking, and violent crimes (among others)

Do you feel safer?
